چکیده
Abstract This paper presents an improved algorithm, based on the D*-parameter, for dust detection over East Asian region using brightness temperature differences (BTDs) between infrared channels of Advanced Himawari Imager (AHI) onboard Himawari-8. The developed algorithm defines a index in form ratio BTDs: BTD 10.4 μm and 12.4 (BTD 10.4–12.4 ) to that 8.6 8.6–10.4 ). To identify with this index, threshold values were determined empirically. A masking technique was utilized mitigate problem detecting clear-sky deserts fog ocean as dust. analyzed dust, desert, cases during 2017 2018 method. Fog desert distinguished by criteria > −1.1 K −1 K, respectively. Based these thresholds, influence filtered out. results showed area qualitatively consistent RGB images ground observation data. Comparison AERONET aerosol optical depth (AOD) demonstrated D*-parameter exponentially proportional AOD, correlation coefficient them approximately 0.6. Dust can be applied monitoring dispersion movement also serve quantitative indicator Dust.

dust detection using improved tiidi and applying modis sensor data
introduction thermal infrared integrated dust index (tiidi) is one of indices that is presented in this direction. the index operates based on four brightness temperature difference including wavelengths 3.7, 8.6, 11 and 12 micrometer. according to the studies, btd (bt12-bt11) is used for cloud detection. btd (bt8.6-bt11) is the index for separation for dust from sandy surface and btd (bt3.7-bt...
متن کاملApplication of Geostationary Satellite Observations for Monitoring Dust Storms of Asia
In this study, data provided by the geostationary satellite GMS-5 S-VISSR was used to monitor dust storms. Although other satellites, such as TOMS, provide information regarding dust cover and air quality over specific locations, their limited orbital observation time makes it hard to issue real-time warnings for dust storms. Since geostationary satellites are capable of providing hourly observ...

To improve short-term particulate matter (PM) forecasts in South Korea, the initial distribution of PM composition, particularly over the upwind regions, is primarily important. To prepare the initial PM composition, the aerosol optical depth (AOD) data retrieved from a geostationary equatorial orbit (GEO) satellite sensor, GOCI (Geostationary Ocean Color Imager) which covers a part of Northeas...

[1] Using 30 days of hourly geostationary satellite (GMS5 imager) data and discrete ordinate radiative transfer (DISORT) calculations, aerosol optical thickness (AOT) at 0.67 mm was retrieved over the west Pacific Ocean (20 N–45 N, 110 E–150 E) during the Aerosol Characterization Experiment (ACE-Asia) intensive observation period in April 2001. Different from previous one-channel retrieval algo...
